2 Methods to Create Your Own Start Menu in Windows 8 – Complete Tutorial



As we all know that hundreds of apps are available on the internet which adds Start Button on your Windows 8 operating system, such as Start8 and many more. Start8 is free to use and some of them are premium one, but now today i will share a tip with you which helps you to add Start menu your own on Windows 8 without using any software.
Here you have two different options, both of them easy to create and use but its up to you which one you like. Read them carefully…
1. Add Start Menu In Windows 8:
1. Right click on the Taskbar and choose Toolbars >> New Toolbar.

2. Now It will display a folder selection window. On the Folder field, just copy and paste this path – “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs”. Then Click Select Folder.

3. Now as you can see the new Programs toolbar on the right side of the Taskbar. When you click on the toolbar and you can see the list of applications.

Note: You also can add it on right side of the taskbar, right click the taskbar and un-tick Lock the taskbar option. Drag and Drop it to the left side of the taskbar. And lock the taskbar after by right clicking.
This was the first method to add start button in Windows 8 PC.
2. Your Own Created Start Button In Windows 8:
This methods is nice and recommended by us.
1. Create a new Folder on your Desktop just open the folder, right click on the background, and go to the New >> Shortcut, like below.

2. Now you have to paste this link on the window. “explorer.exe shell:::{2559a1f8-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}” like below.

3. Now you can name the Shortcut. Then, click Finish.

4. Now time for giving it a nice look, Right click on the shortcut and select the Properties command and go to the Change Icon button.

5. It will by default the display the icons from the explorer.exe file. Type “C:\Windows\ehome\ehshell.exe” to get the nice Start Button Icon for your shortcut.

6. Now our icon is ready, its time for Pin it to the Taskbar, again right click on the icon and select option Pin to Taskbar.

7. If you follow the steps carefully your Start Button is ready to use, like previous method you can drag it all the way to the left side of the taskbar. Now when you click on your custom Start button, the Apps screen will appear like below.
